Consumption-

THE POD

This project has to do with human consumption.  The plastic container from which this mold was taken is the epitome of human consumption.  There is something aesthetically pleasing about the shape and design of the container, so it almost becomes like food fashion, but is it absolutely necessary to have our apples individually packaged?

The individual apple slots look like pods, which became the architectural premise for this project.  Consumers share in the act of consumption, but other than that they are completely disconnected from one another.  They become more preoccupied with stuff and less sociable with those around them.  In essence, they each live in their own little world, or their own little pod.

However, not everything is lost.  Consumption perpetuates technological innovation and economic growth, much like how seed pods perpetuate life.  These pods represent the dichotomy of consumption- individualism/disconnect and growth/opportunity.
